1. SOUTHWEST COLLECTION The library has more than 11,178 books on the Southwest. About a third of these are Locked Case books which may only be used in the library. The books deal with the Southwest as represented by New Mexico, Arizona, Utah and Colorado, particularly the Four Corners Areas. The materials were collected by the former librarian, Octavia Fellin over a period of 40 years, and the collecting of such materials has continued up to the present day. All materials are cataloged in our current circulation system and can be accessed by author, title, and in most instances, by subject. 2. VIDEO COLLECTION The library has a collection of more than 4,361 videos and 176 DVDs, which include entertainment, instructional, educational, and even children's videos. They have been collected with a family audience in mind. They circulate for two weeks at a time, and there is a charge of $1.00 for each title circulated. All videos and DVDs are also in the catalog system by title and subject of "VIDEOS" or "DVD" with subheadings about the topics that the videos cover. 3. COMPACT DISC COLLECTION We have a relatively small collection of 1496 music compact discs and purposely tried for an eclectic collection ranging from Country Western to Swing to Jazz and to Classical. We have also tried to get music that represents different areas of the world. There is a charge of $0.50 for each title circulated, and they, also, circulate for two weeks. 4. BOOKS-ON-TAPE AND BOOKS-ON-CD COLLECTION
5. WPA ART COLLECTION This a non-circulating collection of 30 artworks from the WPA era. Various works are hung through out the library. They are also included in our catalog under name of artist and artwork. 6. ART COLLECTION The library also has a collection of 130 works many of which were done by local artists, who have displayed their work in the library. This includes a collection of posters from the annual Inter-tribal Indian Ceremonial. |
